It Pays to Spray: A £2- £300 per Hour Income That Anyone Can Do

It pays to spray: I recently saw a guy making an absolute fortune doing something that others either detest doing or couldn’t do, because of infirmity, or age. The idea was so simple, that it took me back (I assess many income earning ventures, and it beat them all for ingenuity!) If you have realised that you need to get off your arse and do something this might just suit you perfectly, no matter where you are male of female.

Personally, I detest DIY of any sort. I can’t put up shelves to save my life. My family have banned me from doing any sort of DIY project, after numerous failed attempts. And as for painting? Never! But even I could do this venture without breaking a sweat. Here’s how it works:

Offer to paint fences, and outbuildings such as garden sheds and summer houses. Now don’t skip over this, because I will explain how you can do it, without holding a paintbrush or spending days on a garden fence, tediously shoving the bristles into ever knot, nook and cranny. And to be honest, it is one of the easiest ways for making a couple of hundred pounds an hour that I have come across.

You simply purchase a paint sprayer from Amazon. I recommend the Tilswall Paint Sprayer for around £60 because it is not heavy, and has rave reviews. And you can be in business for less than £100 (you need things like Face Masks, dust sheets, etc.

The next thing i would suggest is that you use Cuprinol Fence paint – and get it from Amazon. It is far cheaper than buying it from Wickes and B&Q (about half the price). To be honest, you would need a 5 litre tin for a small fence, and perhaps two tins for a longer fence or a summerhouse. But you will quickly find out how much you need. and, if you are charging £300 for the job, throw in the paint free of extra cost, which usually seals the deal.

So – how long does it take to paint a fence?

Here is an image of a fence with 10 panels showing 2 styles of panel, spraying both sides (you wont usually need to do both sides)

spray

To do this spraying, 2 coats, takes around an hour in total. (Once you reach the end of a line of fence, it is dry enough to put the second coat on starting from the beginning again). You have to refill the sprayer a few times, but that’s it. Not exactly hard work, for around £300 an hour!

Tip: Charge by the panel, say between £10 – £20. That way, you can easily cost a job.

Why is this a sought after service?

There are two reasons why you will never be short of work. First of all, to paint a fence is extremely tedious work by hand. Most people (unless they are avid DIYers) don’t have the spray equipment, and the perceived expertise to do the job. Secondly, to replace rotting fence panels costs a lot of money, so preserving them is cost effective. For example, the average cost of a decent fence panel is £50, give or take, and then there’s the labour costs to get a fencing company to do it.

How do I get the business?

The best way is leafleting your local area, then once you get the ball rolling, you will get recommendations to do neighbours fences. Then you can do Facebook, advertise in your local parish magazines, and on NextDoor. You will soon become the ‘go to’ person for preserving people’s fences, sheds, and outbuildings!
